About the Author

I’m never really comfortable writing these “about the author” kinds of things, but I decided that if half of the point of this blog was to begin to get my name out there into the world, then it seemed I want to give the world some idea of just what it’s getting.

What exactly is it I should tell you about Allen Holt, I wonder? I don’t have anything published yet (nothing recent and nothing worth remarking on, anyway), so I can’t very well impress you with my vitae. I can tell you that I’ve been writing most of my life and had intended to begin pursuing it professionally long before now, but got sidetracked by a job that actually paid me consistently and well. But I see something of a limited future in that job both because it’s the kind of thing where I’m going to get phased out in favor of someone younger and cheaper eventually…and, well, because I just don’t enjoy it enough to want to do it forever.

So while I’ve got still got plenty of years left before I absolutely burn out on the day job, I thought I’d get back to my longtime writing ambitions. This blog’s part of my attempt to build up discipline toward my craft and my attempt, as mentioned above, to start getting to where I can actually be found through Google.

I live in lovely, scenic North Carolina with my gorgeous, brilliant and perceptive wife Terry and our two heartbreakingly beautiful daughters. Anything else you wanna know, just ask.
