The thing is... I don't agree with drugging our children to control their behavior, but I know that it works. My 13-year-old nephew has a horrible case of ADD, but when he's on his medication, he can concentrate, sit still, learn, have a normal conversation. But it's not teaching him how to moderate his behavior himself, and I have a major problem with that — it's only reinforcing the victim mentality which has already been fostered within him.

Is it worth drugging the child so he isn't disruptive to his classmates and problematic to his parents if it also subdues his imagination and creativity? I don't have a good answer to that. But I know that this cartoon almost made me want to cry.

After my memory rambled for a bit, I remembered the movie , which had a similar idea.

It makes me sad, too, but it does say a lot about how kids today get treated.

I'd expect that Calvin would be diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder and then drugged into submission in a modern school.

I don't think it's inexplicable at all. It's sad!
